The Loop repositioning sling assists the caregiver to move or reposition the patient in bed including turning to and from the prone position and lateral transfer from one flat surface to another. It may be left under the patient between transfers (if clinical assessment allows)
Repositioning in bed has many clinical benefits:
- Prevent tissue damage
- Improve ventilation, postural drainage, management of secretions
- Improve vital functions
- Facilitate muscle function, as well as stability and mobility
- Improve patient/residents of life, well-being and participation in functional rehabilitation activities.
Repositioning reduces the duration and magnitude of pressure over vulnerable areas of the body and contributes to the patient’s comfort, hygiene, dignity and functional ability.
The sling is intended for patients/residents who are highly or totally dependent and unable to contribute with their own transfer and repositioning. It can be used for lateral transfers, repositioning in bed, turning to and from prone position, applying/removing X-ray image plates and lifting from the floor.
