HOW TO MEASURE PATIENTS FOR A BRA?
Step 1: Measure the Underband
- Wrap the measuring tape around the patient's ribcage, where their bra band usually lies.
- Make sure the tape is not folded over and that it's straight across their back
- Ask them to exhale, relax, and measure to the 1/4 inch.
Measurement | 28 - 31" | 31 - 33" | 33 - 35" | 35 - 37" | 37 - 39" | 39 - 41" | 41 - 43" | 43 - 45" |
Band Size | 32 | 34 | 36 | 38 | 40 | 42 | 44 | 46 |
Step 2: Measure the Bust
- Wrap the measuring tape around the patient's back and over the fullest part of their breast
- Make sure it's straight over their back. The tape should not be tight, just gently laying
- Measure to the 1/4 inch.
Step 3: Bust Measurement - Band Size
Measurement Difference | 1" | 2" | 3" | 4" | 5" | 6" |
Cup Size | A | B | C | D | DD | DDD/F |
**If the underband measurement is 34.5 inches, then the band size would be 36. If the bust measurement is 39, then 39-6=3. Meaning a size 36C, so get a 36-38 B-D bra.
